Kozel is originally a hunter's lodge, it was constructed 1784-1789 by the builder V. Haberditz for J. V. Cernin as a ground-floor four-wing Classical building around a rectangular courtyard, the southwest section being a mansard superstructure.
1791-1795 architect I. J. N. Palliardi extended the lodge by a further two pairs of independent buildings (riding school, chapel, footman's quarters, stables).
The rooms in the lodge are decorated with wall- and ceiling paintings by Antonin Tuvora. The whole interior is uniform in Louis-Seize style.
On the terrace here is a model of a deer by I. M. Platzer, dating from 1792. Platzer also designed the main altar in the chapel. The lodge is situated in an extensive landscaped park which then forms a natural forest.
