The Conservatory

In front of the conservatory there is a statue of the Merited Burgomaster of Plzen, Martin Kopecky (1777-1854), the founder of modern Plzen. It is the work of the Prague sculptor, Antonin Wildt, from 1861.

Nearby is a statue of Bedrich Smetana, a work by Alois Soper from 1975. It recalls the fact that the young Bedrich Smetana studied here 1840-1843 at the nearby grammar school (now the State Research Library).
